An at-home sip and paint night is the ultimate way to combine creativity and relaxation. Grab your favorite drink, set up a cozy space, and bring all the fun of a night out, in house.

I have done this in 2 ways

  1. As a date
  2. As a Girl’s Night

and it was a great time both ways.

No matter which way you decide to do it, the set up will be the same.

Pick a large open space and make the room try to feel a little different. If you’re setting up a date try changing up the lighting, having a playlist going, or lighting a few candles. If you’re hosting a girls night have a nearby table with snacks and florals or centerpieces.

Gather Supplies

You will need a few supplies for a successful evening. You can make the night even better with a few extras* as well:

•  Easels* – These can be found at any craft store. Occasionally, if you’re lucky you can find these in stock at Dollar Tree or 5 Below.
•  Canvases – These can be found at any craft store or the craft section of Walmart.
•  Acrylic Paint
•  Paint Brushes
•  Disposable Tablecloth for easy cleanup
•  Paper Plates and Cups – For paint and brush water
•   Food and Drinks*
•  Painting Smocks*

Organize Your Area

Use the disposable table cloth as a cover for your work area. This will keep your table spotless and make clean up a breeze.

Paper plates and cups also make disposing of paint and paint water quick and easy.

I chose an area with plenty of light and space for us to paint, relax, and eat.

Make a Signature Drink / Meal

What is Sip and Paint without the SIP!

Grab your favorite adult beverages and mixers and get creative.

Choose an Easy Image

You’ll want to chose an image that is easy to paint. The point of date night is to have fun, so don’t pick something that will have you worried about if it looks perfect.

Outline the image in pencil on the canvas.

Date Night Details

For the Date Night version- I chose to do small snacks like fruits, cheese and crackers while we painted and made a full meal for a dinner date after we finished painting.

The photo we painted was one that combines our separate pieces of art for one final product.

I picked an image of a tree silhouette and by choosing a simpler image I was also able to limit the amount of paint I had to purchase.

Girl’s Night Details

Date Night provided an intimate evening of bonding. And it was amazing. But Girl’s Night?

Girl’s Night was a blast. Something about a larger group of people completely changed the feel of the night. The laughs, the music, and the impromptu games really made for a memorable evening.

You can see that this time there were no easels used and we were still able to paint with no problem. It made more sense to not use them so we could see each others faces across the table, and it was more cost effective to skip them for a larger group.

Another reason Girl’s Night felt different was because of all the personalized touches and togetherness.

Everyone got a personalized smock with their name, a drinking glass, and bag.

We had a signature blackberry cocktail and everyone brought a dish to share potluck style. We spent the night laughing over our drinks and listening to music. At one point we all stopped to eat and somehow started playing games before we went back to painting.

We chose to paint a sloth with a floral crown. This was such a great design because it was very simple, used few paint colors, and really let everyone’s look different because of the crowns.

I wish I had a picture of everyone’s finished pieces…. but all I was able to find was a screen grab of a video 🙂

However you plan it, it’s sure to be a good time.
