The Menu

Keep in mind I was 9 months pregnant, in the middle of building nursery and hosting the shower at my house – so I did not personally do the whole spread. We catered the majority of the food, had friends and family make a few side dishes and I did the dessert table.

We had:

FOOD:
Chick-fil-a wraps , grilled chicken sandwiches, nuggets, fruit, spinach dip with bread, buffalo chicken dip with chips, side salads, and of course baby shower meatballs.

DESSERTS:
Cake , cupcakes, mini cheesecakes, macaroons, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered pretzles and a charcuterie set up in cut out letters.

Baby Shower Games and Prizes

One of the highlights of the baby shower was the fun and engaging games we played, which kept everyone laughing and interacting. I tried to pick games that:

1. Everyone would be able to participate in

2. Could be played while sitting down.

We kicked things off with a classic game of “Guess how big mommy’s belly is” where guests guessed how much streamer it would take to wrap around my belly. The closest without going over would win!

Then we played my personal favorite. A hilarious, good time that lets everyone showcase their inner artist. I like to change the image being drawn and re-purpose this game for any get together I have. The basis is each person draws an image and the best image wins. The gag is; the image is drawn on top of the artists head! no peeking. AND the artist is given the steps on what to draw piece by piece. Sounds easy but give it a try and get ready to laugh.

Another favorite was “Baby Bingo,” where attendees marked off their cards as presents were opened, adding an extra layer of excitement to the gift exchange. They had filled out the cards previously with things they thought I may receive. I wanted to do something that kept everyone engaged while I was opening gifts and this was it.

We also had a “Baby Jeopardy,” where teams competed to see who knew the most. These games not only kept the energy high but also created lasting memories as we celebrated the upcoming arrival of the little one.

Lastly, it was important to me to include my husband. I mean it’s his baby shower too right?? So we had a guessing game for me and him where we were asked questions and had to vote blind on whether we thought he or I would be the answer. We were asked things like who will call the pediatrician more? or who will be the fun parent?

For individual prizes I had gift bags that included a tumbler cup, a candle, and a gift card.

For the group gifts there were ready to make cocktail bags. These included a glass, a mixer and mini bottle.

For the theme we went with planes to match the nursery. I planned on making signs for the drink station that said cute things like “jet fuel” or “in flight meal” for near the food and others for the near guest book that read “check in” and near the thank you gifts on the way out that said “baggage claim” — however , none of that happened lol.

I underestimated pregnancy when I thought I could accomplish it all. I also vastly underestimated the amount of time the balloons would take. I blew up all of my own balloons (well, I had a pump) and made the arches to decorate the house. I planned on folding up some paper airplanes and making clouds to add into the balloons but that didn’t happen either!

Listen…..all the little things got left behind lol.

and that ended up being perfectly fine 🙂

I had planned on doing SO much more decorating and incorporating small details to add to the theme… but, Pregnancy.

I was so stressed about the small details I knew I wanted but didn’t get around to that if I had the chance to do it again I wouldn’t even stress about it!

I had such an amazing time and while the details would have added an extra touch and tied the theme together I would have much preferred to not be stressed about the small stuff that I felt I was missing (that no one else even thought about lol) and just enjoyed the day fully.
